Empowering Women Through Fashion

Empowering Women Through Fashion

Fashion has emerged as the most potent form of self-expression and plays a pivotal role in celebrating one’s individuality, especially for women. Our outfits not only portray our style but also say a lot about our personality, opinions, preferences, and ethical values.

In recent years, the fashion industry has provided women with a platform to support their freedom of speech and expression through their fashion choices.

Every individual’s definition of empowerment has different meanings which might as well be represented through their outfits.

From casual outings with friends to business meetings, women’s outfits reflect the energy and confidence that they choose to carry with themselves.

Transitioning from Oppression to Liberation

For much of history, women’s fashion had been outrageously constricted and oppressive which restricted their involvement in matters outside their house as it was deemed unfit for them.

Some of the ancient fashion trends such as extremely suffocating waist-cinching corsets, ridiculously large skirts, and poisonous skin-lightening makeup infused with lead and arsenic forced women to mold themselves into set standards of beauty.

But the times have changed and now fashion is progressing towards a stage where it’s nothing about following set standards. It is more about following your heart and being creative.

The late realization of the fact that everybody is unique and requires an equal amount of love and support has sparked a change in the fashion industry.

With brands and fashion labels encouraging diversity in their collections, we can now see a more diverse range of models promoting fashion that’s inclusive, stylish, and comfortable.

It’s now much easier for women to find power through fashion because there’s something for everyone regardless of their age, race, body shape, or color.

The Positive Change

With fashion influencers taking charge, women are now looking up to them not just because they are relatable but also because they help women seek the power and freedom that comes with fashion.

Their personal brand is a result of their consistent efforts and hard work that people look up to seek inspiration.

The new-age fashion designers like Claudia Li, Tracy Reese, and Becca McCharen are also taking a step further when it comes to including inclusivity and diversity in their collections.

They are reinventing fashion in all terms for it to be more than just a piece of clothing and rather be a more empowering and liberating tool to bring equality to our society.
